A lovely haiku, but I still prefer the traditional, prescribed 5-7-5 syllable format. In this way I break my own rule about feeling free to break all the rules.
This was written by one of the four master haiku poets of Japan way back when ... this is the *translated" version of the haiku. I'm sure the original kept to the traditional 5-7-5 format.
