"Sparrows and Camellia in Snow -- Ando Hiroshige"

Sparrows and Camellia in Snow by Ando Hiroshige
"Sparrows and Camellia in Snow (early 1830s) by artist: Andō Hiroshige is a vintage Japanese fine art woodblock painting. This nature image originally came from a woodblock print.

Utagawa Hiroshige (歌川広重) (aka Andō) (1797--1858) was a Japanese ukiyo-e artist, one of the last great artists in that tradition. He was a member of the Utagawa school which comprised dozens of artists, and stood at the forefront of 19th century woodblock prints. Hiroshige is especially noted for using unusual vantage points, seasonal allusions, and striking colors. He adapted Western principles of perspective and receding space to his own works in order to achieve a sense of realistic depth.”
